Heirloom Baby Blankets

I have always loved the lacy look of baptismal/christening or heirloom blankets. My grandmother used to make blankets like this but I had never attempted one before.
I recently purchased a Leisure Arts crochet pattern book of “Keepsake Baby Afghans”. The designs are by Kay Meadows and they are beautiful!
Here is a picture of my first completed blanket from this book.

I will admit that I made a couple of mistakes in the edging, but now that I know better, I think it will be much easier next time.
Do any of you have a favorite keepsake Afghan pattern?

Sneak Peek – Connecting Grannies with Zigzag Crochet

So here’s a close-up peek at my granny blanket (still working on the border so not ready to show the final product). I decided to use a zig zag crochet to connect the squares. This is the first time that I’ve done that, so I was kind of winging it, but I must admit that I love the way it turned out. I think this might be my new favorite way to connect grannies!
