Redheart Dishcloths Bouquet

I currently have 4 different projects on hooks. It’s a problem really. This is why I normally enjoy quick little things like hats and scarves! But I currently am making a really great set of curtains for the French doors to my office/Zen den, a granny stitch Poncho (that I don’t think I’ll have enough yarn to finish), a beautiful shawl that I hope to have pictures of soon, and a half finished baby blanket that I decided looked too “masculine” for a baby gift that was for somebody that wasn’t finding out.

I know that my mom does this with her knitting projects too, but I’m hoping that is not just us! Are there any other ADD crafters out there? A show of hands would be great because I don’t like feeling alone in this.

The good news is that in the midst of all these, I sometimes find some great diversions on the crochet sites that I follow on Facebook.

Here are some quick and easy dishcloths from the Redheart website that I whipped up in no time at all. They call for using COATS Creme de la Creme yarn, but all I had available was Sugar ‘n Cream cotton yarn which I thought was pretty close. It must not have been though. I ended up skipping the last 2 rows in the pattern and adding a similar shell edging of my own. I think the result turned out pretty similar to the original pattern…just smaller.

Here are mine.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY!!!

I was just updating my Zahoomi Shop page with some of my winter inventory and thought, why not do a Christmas in July Sale?!? I am making a shift this year. Normally I do 3-4 craft shows during the winter months and I stock up on inventory for those and inevitably people see a hat that they love but need it in a different size, so I end up doing custom orders and still having a bunch of my inventory left after the fair! Here’s my chance to clear out the inventory bin and your chance to save! I have marked down all my winter items and while I currently only ship in the US, foryouI will open that up to worldwide. Just tell me (via the contact seller button) which item(s) you are interested in and I will run over to the post office and figure out shipping for your zone 🙂

Thanks for looking!

Super Simple Crochet Ice Pop Holders

Image

If you have children and you let them have those little flavor ice pops or you freeze yogurt sticks for them, then this is the thing for you! These are soooooo easy to make if you have a basic knowledge of crochet. School ended for my children on Friday and as a little end of year gift for my daughter’s preschool classmates, I put these little treats together and attached a card with our contact information in case anyone wanted to set up a playdate during the summer break.

I never would have thought to make these, but my husband actually requested them (and then kept gently “reminding” me) so that the kids would stop wasting paper towels 🙂

Ok, so here’s where I learned from my mistakes. On all of the holders that I made for her class, I left about a 10 inch length of yarn in the beginning which I used to sew the bottom of the holder when I finished crocheting. You can choose to do this too, but what we discovered after she used hers for the first time is that it probably would have been better if I had left the bottom open. That way, as she pushed the ice pop up, she didn’t have to take it out and fold over the plastic; she could have just slid it up as needed. Like I said, you learn from your mistakes 🙂 Sorry to all of her classmates who are finding this out!

Update:

After many requests and orders, I decided to add this super simple pattern to my etsy shop for a very reasonable $0.99. Since this post, I have made dozens more of these. They are great for summer birthday parties too! Here it is and you can see in the listing how nice they are in cotton yarn as well.
